Cortona

Cortona Originally an Umbrian city, was conquered and enlarged by the Etruscans, who called it Curtun. During the 600s BC, it joined the Etruscan League.

It eventually became a Roman colony under the name Corito.

The Diocesan Museum houses works of art by artists such as Beato Angelico, Pietro Lorenzetti, Luca Signorelli and Sassetta

Lago Trasimeno

Lake Trasimeno. Three million years ago, there was a shallow sea in this part of Umbria. A depression formed by geologic fractures allowed the present-day Lake Trasimeno to form. Half of Trasimeno is surrounded by hills, rich in olives that are an important agricultural resource. Trekking, Biking, History and culture.

Umbertide, Umbria, Italia

Umbertide, was founded at around the 10th century. Umbertide is a full-service regional town with comprehensive shopping, banking, postal services and an open air market on Wednesdays. A large, modern supermarket (the Coop) is located in the town's industrial zone. You can also buy at Slow Food  farmers'market Mercato Della Terra on Saturday morning.

Perugia

Perugia is the capital city of the region of Umbria, founded by the Etruscans is also known as the universities town.

There are annual festivals and events: the Eurochocolate Festival (October), the Umbria Jazz Festival (July).

The National Gallery of Umbria is one of the richest collections in Italy includes various masterpieces from the Middle Ages and Renaissance with works of international renown.

This prestigious collection includes works by Arnolfo di Cambio, Nicola and Giovanni Pisano, Duccio di Boninsegna, Gentile da Fabriano, Beato Angelico, Benozzo Gozzoli and Piero della Francesca, the Umbrian artists Benedetto Bonfigli, Bartolomeo Caporali, Fiorenzo di Lorenzo and especially the famous paintings by Perugino, Pinturicchio and their students and followers.

Assisi, Saint Francis

Assisi. A holy city for Christians, Assisi is an eternal destination for pilgrims wanting to the see the places where Saint Francis was born, where he worked, and where he died.  make changes to the font.

Montone

Montone. One of the most beautiful hilltop villages in Umbria is the homeland of Braccio Fortebraccio probably now best known as a mercenary leader, between the Medieval and Humanistic Ages he predated the figure of Machiavelli’s “Prince”.

Arezzo

Arezzo. Founded around 9th century B.C. quickly became one of the most important cities in Tuscany. The Church of San Francesco is probably the most famous in Arezzo, with the fresco cycle by Piero della Francesca. You should then visit the Medicean Fortress, the Cathedral dedicated to San Donato, the Roman Amphitheater and the Church of San Domenico with the wooden Crucifix by Cimabue.

Gubbio

Gubbio is one of the most ancient towns of Umbria, extremely well preserved during centuries and rich of monuments testifying its glorious past. The historical centre of Gubbio has a decidedly medieval aspect with many monuments to visit.

The most important manifestations taking place in the city are the Palio della Balestra and Corsa dei Ceri.

Florence, Firenze

Florence originated as a Roman city, and later, after a long period as a flourishing trading and banking medieval commune, it was the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance  Firenze was politically economically, and culturally one of the most important cities in Europe and the world from the 14th to 16th centuries. Florence contains several palaces and buildings to visit: Palazzo Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Pitti, the Uffizi, Palazzo Strozzi, Palazzo Medici, Boboli Gardens, The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, The San Giovanni Baptistery located in front of the cathedral, the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella and many other historical sites and museums.

We suggest you to reach Florence by train from Cortona-Terontola railway station (1:30h).
